Kurt Warner returns with a vengeance for the Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals made the right choice at QB this season by selecting Kurt Warner to start over pretty boy Matt Leinart. The result is that Warner led the team to the playoffs. The 37-year old Warner started all 16 games for the Cardinals this year and he completed 401 of 598 passes (67.1%) for 4,583 yards with 30 TD passes and 14 interceptions (96.9 QB Rating). He also carried the ball 18 times for -2 yards (-0.1 ypc) this year. Warner really deserved more support in the MVP voting as his numbers were just as good as Peyton Manning’s. Warner has now played in 109 games (101 starts) in his NFL career and he has completed 2,327 of 3,557 (65.4%) for 28,591 yards with 182 TD passes and 114 interceptions (93.8 QB Rating). He has also carried the ball 152 times for 276 yards (1.8 ypc) with 3 TD runs. It will be interesting to see how much longer Warner will hold off Matt Leinart.
25-year old lefty throwing Matt Leinart had a hard time getting onto the football field this season. He played in 4 games (0 starts) for the Cardinals this season and he completed 15 of 29 passes (51.7%) for 264 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 interception (80.2 QB Rating). He also carried the ball 4 times for 5 yards (1.3 ypc) this season. It remains to be seen if Leinart is the QB of the future for the Cardinals or just another first round bust…..only time will tell. Leinart has now played in 21 games (16 starts) in his NFL career and he has completed 289 for 518 passes (55.8%) for 3,458 yards with 14 TD passes and 17 interceptions (71.7 QB Rating). He has also carried the ball 37 times for 96 yards (2.6 ypc) with 2 TD runs.
