The Cardinals’ offense just couldn’t keep up with the Steelers yesterday.  Kevin Kolb completed 18 of 34 passes for 272 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 interception.  He also carried the ball 2 times for 14 yards (7.0 ypc) in this game.  Kolb did cost the Cardinals a safety when he intentionally grounded the ball in the end zone.  Beanie Wells led the way on the ground for the Cardinals yesterday with 12 carries for 42 yards (3.5 ypc).  Alfonso Smith pitched in with 5 carries for 17 yards (3.4 ypc) with 1 TD run in this game.  WR Larry Fitzgerald (4 rec, 78 yards), RB LaRod Stephens-Howling (2 rec, 76 yards, TD) and WR Early Doucet (5 rec, 30 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Cardinals yesterday.  The Cardinals finished up with 73 yards rushing on 19 carries (3.8 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 34 passes (52.9%) for 257 yards as they had possession of the ball for 24:13.

The defense just couldn’t stop the passing game yesterday, plain and simple.  LB Paris Lenon (7 tackles, 1 QB hit), CB Richard Marshall (7 tackles, 1 pass defensed), LB Daryl Washington (7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss) and CB Patrick Peterson (7 tackles) led the way for the Cardinals’ D yesterday.  LB Clark Haggans pitched in with 5 tackles, 1 sack, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 pass defensed and 1 QB hit in this game.  The Steelers finished up with 91 yards rushing on 28 carries (3.3 ypc) and they also completed 26 of 39 passes (66.7%) for 354 yards.  The Cardinals are now 1-5 on the season.

Minnesota Vikings 34, Arizona Cardinals 10

The Vikings jumped all over the Cardinals today as they were leading 28-0 at the end of the first quarter.  The Cardinals didn’t show up today on either side of the football and it showed on the scoreboard.  Kevin Kolb completed 21 of 42 passes for 232 yards with 0 TD passes and 2 INTs.  He also lost a fumble and he carried the ball 2 times for 10 yards (5.0 ypc).  Richard Bartel finished up this game and he was horrible too as he completed 2 of 6 passes for 22 yards with 0 TD passes and 1 INT.  Beanie Wells led the way on the ground for the Cardinals in this game with 60 yards on 20 carries (3.0 ypc) with 1 TD run.  WR Early Doucet (8 rec, 92 yards), WR Larry Fitzgerald (4 rec, 66 yards) and TE Jeff King (5 rec, 35 yards) led the way for the passing game for the Cardinals today.  The Cardinals finished up with 77 yards rushing on 24 carries (3.2 ypc) and they also completed 23 of 48 passes (47.9%) for 214 yards as they had possession of the ball for 31:01.

The Cardinals’ D was solid against the pass but awful against the run today.  CB A.J. Jefferson (8 tackles, 1 pass defensed) and LB Paris Lenon (6 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss) led the way for the Cardinals on D today.  LB Daryl Washington (5 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 sack and 1 QB hit) and DE Calais Campbell (5 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss) also had solid games for the Cards today.  The Vikings finished up with 172 yards rushing on 37 carries (4.6 ypc) and they also completed 10 of 21 passes (47.6%) for 160 yards today.  The Cardinals are now 1-4 on the year.

New York Giants 31, Arizona Cardinals 27

The Cardinals’ D completely blew this game as the Giants scored two TDs in the last 3:37 of the 4th quarter!  Kevin Kolb had his worst game as a Cardinal today as he completed 20 of 34 passes for 237 yards with 0 TD passes and 1 INT.  He also lost a fumble in this game.  Beanie Wells led the way on the ground for the Cardinals in this game with 27 times for 138 yards (5.1 ypc) with 3 TD runs.  WR Larry Fitzgerald (8 rec, 102 yards), WR Early Doucet (3 rec, 42 yards) and TE Todd Heap (4 rec, 41 yards) led the way for the Cardinals in the passing game today.  The Cardinals finished up with 156 yards rushing on 32 carries (4.9 ypc) and they also completed 20 of 34 passes (58.8%) for 212 yards as they had possession of the ball for 31:59.

The defense was outstanding against the run and pathetic against the pass today.  CB Patrick Peterson led the way for the D with 7 tackles and 2 passes defensed in this game.  DE Calais Campbell (6 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss) and LB Daryl Washington (6 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss) also pitched in for the Cardinals on D in this game.  DT Darnell Dockett  and LB Clark Haggins had 1 fumble recovery each in this game for the Cards.  The Giants finished up with 54 yards rushing on 24 carries (2.3 ypc) and they also completed 27 of 40 passes (67.5%) for 306 yards.  The Cardinals are now 1-3 on the year.

Seattle Seahawks 13, Arizona Cardinals 10

The defense stepped up for the Cardinals yesterday but the offense and special teams let them down.  Kicker Jay Feely missed a couple long field goals (49 and 51 yards) and that hurt the team.  Kevin Kolb was not at his best yesterday as he completed 25 of 39 passes for 252 yards with 1 TD pass and 2 INTs.  He also carried the ball 3 times for 16 yards (5.3 ypc) yesterday.  Alfonso Smith led the way on the ground for the Cardinals yesterday as he carried the ball 17 times for 54 yards (3.2 ypc).  He also caught 3 passes for 21 yards (7.0 avg) in this game.  Chester Taylor carried the ball 8 times for 20 yards (2.5 ypc) and he also caught 1 pass for 12 yards.  WR Larry Fitzgerald (5 rec, 64 yards, TD), TE Todd Heap (6 rec, 61 yards) and WR Early Doucet (5 rec, 50 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Cardinals.  The Cardinals rushed for 90 yards on 28 carries (3.2 ypc) and they also completed 25 of 39 passes (64.1%) for 234 yards as they had possession of the ball for 31:49.

The defense was incredible as DE Calais Campbell led the way with 10 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks and 4 QB hits.  CB A.J. Jefferson (7 tackles and 2 passes defensed) and CB Patrick Peterson (interception) also made some big plays for the Cardinals yesterday.  The Seahawks finished up with 122 yards rushing on 30 carries (4.1 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 31 passes (58.1%) for 139 yards.  The Cardinals are now 1-2 on the year.

Washington Redskins 22, Arizona Cardinals 21

The Cardinals were winning this game until there was 1:45 left to play as the defense let them down big time.  Kevin Kolb was solid again for the Cardinals as he completed 17 of 30 passes for 251 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 INT.  Beanie Wells had also had a good game with 93 yards rushing on 14 carries (6.6 ypc) with 1 TD run yesterday.  WR Larry Fitzgerald led the way in the passing game for the Cardinals with 7 grabs for 133 yards (19.0 avg) with 1 TD grab.  TE Jeff King (2 rec, 36 yards, TD) and WR Andre Roberts (3 rec, 30 yards) also pitched in for the Cardinals in this game.  The Cardinals finished up with 93 yards on 15 carries (6.2 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 30 passes (56.7%) for 231 yards despite only having the ball for 21:30.

The defense had a very hard time getting off the field yesterday as the Redskins were ball hogs.  Safety Kerry Rhodes (8 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack, 1 pass defensed and 1 QB hit) and rookie CB Patrick Peterson (8 tackles) led the way for the Cardinals’ D in this game.  LBs Stewart Bradley (7 tackles) and Reggie Walker (7 tackles) each pitched in with 7 tackles apiece.  CB Richard Marshall and safety Adrian Wilson each had 1 interception apiece in this game.  The Redskins finished up with 172 yards rushing on 35 carries (4.9 ypc) and they also completed 25 of 43 passes (58.1%) for 283 yards in this game.  The Cardinals are now 1-1 on the year.

Arizona Cardinals 28, Carolina Panthers 21

The Arizona Cardinals had an unexpected rough time with the Panthers yesterday.  After three quarters, they were down 21-14.  Then they work up and scored 14 unanswered points to surge to a nice home victory yesterday.  Kevin Kolb had a rousing debut for the Cardinals as he completed 18 of 27 passes for 309 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Beanie Wells led the way in the running game for the Cardinals as he carried the ball 18 times for 90 yards (5.0 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He also caught 4 passes for 12 yards (3.0 avg) in this game.  WR Early Doucet (3 rec, 105 yards, TD) and TE Jeff King (2 rec, 61 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Cardinals yesterday.  WR Larry Fitzgerald pitched in with 3 grabs for 62 yards (20.7 avg) in this game.  The Cardinals finished up with 99 yards rushing on 25 carries (4.0 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 27 passes (66.7%) for 295 yards as they had possession of the ball for 27:13.

The defense game planned to stop the Panthers’ running game, and they did well in that regard, but the Panthers unloaded in the air on the D.  LB Paris Lenon (8 tackles, 1/2 sack and 1 QB hit), LB Daryl Washington (7 tackles, 1/2 sack, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 pass defensed and 1 QB hit) and safety Kerry Rhodes (7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack and 1 QB hit) led the way for the Cardinals’ D yesterday.  CB Patrick Peterson had 5 tackles yesterday but his biggest impact came on special teams.  Peterson returned 2 punts for 98 yards including a 89-yard TD return that gave the Cardinals the lead for good in the 4th quarter.  The Panthers finished up with 74 yards rushing on 27 carries (2.7 ypc) and they also completed 24 of 37 passes (64.9%) for 403 yards.  The Cardinals have started the 2011 season with a 1-0 record.

San Francisco 49ers 38, Arizona Cardinals 7

The Cardinals must not have thought they had a game yesterday based on the way they played.  John Skelton start this game and he didn’t play too well.  Skelton completed 14 of 25 passes for 92 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT.  He also carried the ball 2 times for 9 yards (4.5 ypc) in this game.  The Cardinals let Richard Bartel finish this game at QB.  Bartel completed 16 of 28 passes for 150 yards with 0 TD passes and 1 INT (which was returned 62 yards for a TD by CB Tarrell Brown of the Niners).  Tim Hightower led the way on the ground for the Cardinals in this game with 30 yards rushing on 12 carries (2.5 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 2 yards.  Jason Wright pitched in with 3 carries for 23 yards (7.7 ypc) and he also caught 3 passes for 8 yards.  Beanie Wells pitched in with 5 carries for 16 yards (3.2 ypc) in this game.  Larry Fitzgerald led the way in the passing game for the Cardinals with 11 grabs for 125 yards (11.4 avg) with a TD grab.  WRs Steve Breaston (4 rec, 26 yards) and Andre Roberts (4 rec, 23 yards) also pitched in through the air for the Cardinals.  The Cardinals finished up with 78 yards on 22 carries (3.5 ypc) and they also completed 30 of 53 passes for 201 yards.

LBs Paris Lenon (5 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss and 2 passes defensed) and Clark Haggans (5 tackles) led the way for the Cardinals’ on D in this game.  The 49ers finished up with 100 yards rushing on 25 carries (4.0 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 29 passes for 262 yards.  The Cardinals finished up in last place in the NFC West with a 5-11 record.

Arizona Cardinals 27, Dallas Cowboys 26

The Cardinals blew a big lead in this game as the Cowboys took a 26-24 lead with 1:41 left in the game.  That is when rookie QB John Skelton worked some magic setting up kicker Jay Feely with a 48-yard field goal attempt which he made with only 5 seconds left in the game to seal the win.  Skelton completed 11 of 25 passes for 183 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs last night.  He also carried the ball 3 times for 21 yards (7.0 ypc) last evening.  Beanie Wells (11 carries for 47 yards) and Tim Hightower (6 carries for 23 yards) led the way for the Cardinals on the ground in this game.  Rookie WRs Andre Roberts (5 rec, 110 yards, TD) and Max Komar (3 rec, 31 yards) led the way for the Cardinals in the air.  The Cardinals finished up with 93 yards rushing on 21 carries (4.4 ypc) and they also completed 11 of 25 passes for 178 yards despite only having the ball for 21:55 in this game!

CBs Greg Toler (7 tackles, 1 pass defensed and a interception that he returned 66 yards for a TD) and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (3 tackles, 3 passes defensed and a interception that he returned 32 yards for a TD) led the way for the Cardinals’ D in this game.  LB Daryl Washington (8 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 QB hit), LB Paris Lenon (8 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss) and safety Kerry Rhodes (7 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 fumble recovery) also pitched in for the Cards today on D.  The Cowboys finished up with 183 yards rushing on 34 carries (5.4 ypc) and they also completed 23 of 37 passes for 199 yards.  The Cardinals are now 5-10 on the year.

Carolina Panthers 19, Arizona Cardinals 12

The Cardinals were down 19-3 heading into the 4th quarter before they finally showed some life in this game but it was too little, too late.  This was truly an embarrassing loss for the Cardinals!  John Skelton didn’t look too good in this game as he completed 17 of 33 passes for 196 yards with 0 TD passes and 1 INT.  Tim Hightower led the way for the Cardinals on the ground yesterday with 16 yards rushing on 6 carries (2.7 ypc)  and he also caught 3 passes for 12 yards (4.0 avg).  Larry Fitzgerald led the way in the passing game for the Cardinals last Sunday with 9 grabs for 125 yards (13.9 avg).  Steve Breaston pitched in with 2 grabs for 42 yards and he also recovered a Tim Hightower fumble in the end zone for a TD.  The Cardinals finished up with 43 yards rushing on 17 carries (2.5 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 33 passes for 175 yards as they only had possession of the ball for 23:04.

DE Calais Campbell was excellent in this game with 11 tackles, 4 tackles for a loss, 1 sack and 1 QB hit.  LB Paris Lenon (9 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 QB hit and 1 sack) and CB Greg Toler (8 tackles) also had solid games for the Cardinals last Sunday.  DT Darnell Dockett pitched in too with a fumble recovery.  The Panthers finished up with 177 yards rushing on 45 carries (3.9 ypc) and they also completed 13 of 19 passes for 126 yards.  The Cardinals are now 4-10 on the season.

Arizona Cardinals 43, Denver Broncos 13

The Cardinals took out all of their frustrations on the Broncos yesterday!  Rookie QB John Skelton was not too impressive in his first NFL start but at least he was only throwing the ball to players in his own uniform.  Skelton completed 15 of 37 passes for 146 yards with 0 TD passes and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 3 times for 9 yards (3.0 ypc) in this game.  Tim Hightower led the way on the ground in this game with 148 yards rushing on 18 carries (8.2 ypc) with 2 TD carries.  Beanie Wells only rushed for 16 yards on 6 carries (2.7 ypc) in this game as he’s going to continue losing P.T. to Hightower.  Larry Fitzgerald led the way through the air for the Cardinals in this game with 6 grabs for 72 yards (12.0 avg).  The Cardinals finished up with 211 yards rushing on 34 carries (6.2 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 38 passes for 146 yards.

Kicker Jay Feely’s effort also deserves recognition for the Cardinals as he scored 25 points.  He ran for a 5-yard TD on a fake field goal and he also made 5 of 6 field goals and all four of his extra points.  He was a force in this game for the Cardinals who beat the the Broncos in all three phases of the game.

Safety Adian Wilson (11 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 2 QB hits), LB Paris Lenon (9 tackles) and LB Daryl Washington (8 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 1 interception) led the way for the Cardinals on D in this game.  Safety Kerry Rhodes (fumble recovery), CB Greg Toler (fumble recovery), DE Calais Campbell (fumble recovery), CB Michael Adams (interception) and DT Darnell Dockett (fumble recovery in the end zone for a TD) also made some HUGE plays in this game for the Cardinals on D.  The Broncos finished up with 132 yards rushing on 31 carries (4.3 ypc) and they also completed 19 of 41 passes for 156 yards.  The Cardinals are now 4-8 on the season which has them 2 games behind the Seahawks & Rams in the NFC West.
