The Arizona Cardinals sign Joey Porter

The Cardinals have signed 32-year old OLB Joey Porter to a 3-year, $17.5 million with an additional $7 million bucks in possible incentives.  Porter played in 14 games for the Dolphins last season in which he made 41 tackles, defensed 1 pass, had 9 sacks and he forced 1 fumble.  He has now played in 168 games in his NFL career in which he has made 601 tackles, defensed 50 passes, has 92 sacks, forced 24 fumbles and he intercepted 12 passes (one returned for a TD).  I like this signing for the Cardinals if Porter has a lot left in the gas tank, but, only time will tell if he does or not.

The Arizona Cardinals sign Derek Anderson

The Cardinals have signed 26-year old QB Derek Anderson.  Anderson played in 8 games for the Browns last season in which he completed 81 of 182 passes (44.5%) for 888 yards with 3 TD passes and 10 INTs (42.1 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 10 times for 8 yards (0.8 ypc) with 2 TD runs last season.  Anderson has now played in 39 games in his NFL career in which he has completed 587 of 1,109 passes (52.9%) for 7,083 yards with 46 TD passes and 45 INTs (69.7 QB Rating).  Anderson has also carried the ball 71 times for 180 yards (2.5 ypc) with 5 TD runs in his career.  Anderson was a Pro Bowler in 2007 with the Browns so he has had some success in the past.  He has a very strong arm and he will benefit from the solid WRs on the Cardinals.  I like this signing for the Cardinals as Anderson will likely push Matt Leinart for the starting job in 2010.

The Arizona Cardinals sign Paris Lenon

Blogged under Free Agent Additions, Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Cards News, General by admin on Monday 15 March 2010 at 7:16 pm

The Cardinals have signed 32-year old linebacker Paris Lenon to a 3-year deal.  Lenon played in 15 games for the Rams last season in which he made 43 tackles, defensed 1 pass and he forced 3 fumbles.  Lenon has now played in 127 games in his NFL career in which he has made 489 tackles, defensed 18 passes, he had 5 sacks, forced 8 fumbles and he had 2 interceptions (one returned for a TD).  If the Cardinals are expecting Lenon to replace Karlos Dansby they will be disappointed in him.

The Arizona Cardinals sign guard Rex Hadnot

Blogged under Free Agent Additions, Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Cards News, General by admin on Friday 12 March 2010 at 11:11 am

The Cardinals have signed 28-year old, 6′2″, 320 pound guard Rex Hadnot to a 3-year, $9 million dollar deal.  Hadnot played in 9 games (6 starts) for the Browns last season.  He has now played in 87 games (76 starts) in his six years in the NFL.  Hadnot is a mauler in the running game which is what the Cardinals are going to do a lot more of in 2010 so I like this signing for them.

The Arizona Cardinals sign Mike Nugent

Blogged under Free Agent Additions, Bloglockers, Front Page, Injury Reports, General by admin on Friday 18 December 2009 at 10:20 am

The Cardinals have signed 27-year old kicker Mike Nugent.  Nugent played in 4 games earlier this season for the Buccaneers and he only made 2 of 6 field goals (33.3%) and all six of his extra points which was good for 12 points.  Nugent has now played in 53 games in his 5 years in the NFL and he has connected on 77 of 98 field goals (77.6%) and 89 of 91 extra points which is good for 320 points.  Nugent will replace Neil Rackers this week whose injured groin needs rest.  Rackers has played in all 13 games for the Cardinals this season and he has made 16 of 17 field goals (94.1%) and he has connected on 36 of 37 extra points good for 84 points.  The Cardinals better keep their fingers crossed this week that the game doesn’t come down to Mike Nugent trying to win it with a field goal.
