The Cardinals have signed 27-year old kicker Mike Nugent.  Nugent played in 4 games earlier this season for the Buccaneers and he only made 2 of 6 field goals (33.3%) and all six of his extra points which was good for 12 points.  Nugent has now played in 53 games in his 5 years in the NFL and he has connected on 77 of 98 field goals (77.6%) and 89 of 91 extra points which is good for 320 points.  Nugent will replace Neil Rackers this week whose injured groin needs rest.  Rackers has played in all 13 games for the Cardinals this season and he has made 16 of 17 field goals (94.1%) and he has connected on 36 of 37 extra points good for 84 points.  The Cardinals better keep their fingers crossed this week that the game doesn’t come down to Mike Nugent trying to win it with a field goal.

The Cardinals have signed 30-year old center Melvin Fowler to a 1-year deal.  The 6′3″, 310 pound Fowler played in 15 games (5 starts) for the Bills last season.  In his seven year NFL career, Fowler has played in 87 games (60 starts).  This was a good signing for the Cardinals as Fowler will provide quality depth at both center and guard.

The Arizona Cardinals sign TE Dominique Byrd

The Cardinals have signed 25-year old TE Dominique Byrd to a 1-year deal.  The 6′2″, 254 pound Byrd last played in the NFL with the Rams in 2007.  He has played in 14 games in his NFL career catching 6 passes for 83 yards (13.8 avg) with 1 TD grab.  This might be Byrd’s last chance to prove himself in the NFL and the Cardinals have a need at TE so this signing might just work out.

The Cardinals have brought back OT Oliver Ross on a 1-year deal.  The 34-year old Ross brings good size at 6′4″, 327 pounds and he knows the Cardinals’ system having played 2 years there appearing in 23 games (17 starts).  Ross has now played in 89 games (53 starts) in his NFL career to date.  This was a good signing for the Cardinals as Ross will provide depth if nothing else.
