The Cardinals have placed 27-year old RT Brandon Keith on the Injured Reserve List, ending his season due to a injured right ankle.  Keith played in 13 games (11 starts) for the Cardinals last year.  He has now played in 26 games (20 starts) in his first four years with the Cardinals.  Keith will be replaced in the starting lineup by 31-year old Jeremy Bridges.  Bridges has played in 15 games (4 starts) for the Cardinals so far this year.  Keith didn’t play too well this year, so Bridges might actually be an improvement for the Cardinals.

Blogged under Big Cards News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,The Pro Bowl by admin on Thursday 29 December 2011 at 4:10 pm

The Cardinals are sending three players to the Pro Bowl in Hawaii this year.  It all starts with 28-year old WR Larry Fitzgerald.  He has played in 15 games for the Cardinals so far this year and he has caught 71 passes for 1,262 yards (17.8 avg) with 8 TD grabs despite constant double and triple teams by opponents.  32-year old safety Adrian Wilson is also making a return trip to the Pro Bowl.  He has played in 15 games for the Cardinals so far this year and he has 62 tackles, 12 passes defensed, 1 interceptions, 7 tackles for a loss and 1 forced fumble.  21-year old CB/PR Patrick Peterson has made it to the Pro Bowl as a rookie.  He has played in 15 games for the Cardinals so far this year and he has 60 tackles, 13 passes defensed, 1 sack and 2 interceptions.  Peterson made the Pro Bowl based on his punt return abilities, not his defense.  He has returned 40 punts for 636 yards (15.9 avg) with 4 TD returns so far this year.

Blogged under Big Cards News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Monday 21 November 2011 at 11:13 pm

The Cardinals have lost 24-year old NT Dan Williams for the rest of the season due to a fractured left arm.  Williams played in 10 games for the Cardinals this year and he had 20 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 1 tackle for a loss.  He has now played in 25 games in his first two years with the Cardinals and he has 58 tackles, 4 passes defensed and 2 tackles for a loss.  The Cardinals’ run defense is going to miss Williams.

The Arizona Cardinals will be without Kevin Kolb this weekend

Blogged under Big Cards News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports,Needs to pick it up by admin on Friday 4 November 2011 at 10:28 pm

Starting QB Kevin Kolb is doubtful for this Sunday’s game against the Rams due to toe and foot injuries.  Kolb has played in 7 games (all starts) for the Cardinals so far this year and he has completed 129 of 227 passes (56.8%) for 1,706 yards with 8 TD passes and 8 INTs (77.8 QB Rating).  Kolb has also carried the ball 14 times for 45 yards (3.2 ypc) so far this year.  23-year old John Skelton will start this weekend’s game against the Rams.  He played in 5 games (4 starts) for the Cardinals last year as a rookie and he completed 60 of 126 passes (47.6%) for 662 yards with 2 TD passes and 2 INTs (62.3 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 10 times for 49 yards (4.9 ypc) last year.  Despite Skelton’s sub par numbers last year, the Cardinals were still 2-2 when he started under center.

The Arizona Cardinals lose Beanie Wells for a couple of weeks

Blogged under Big Cards News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports,Needs to pick it up by admin on Monday 24 October 2011 at 6:46 pm

The Cardinals will likely be without starting RB Beanie Wells for 1-2 weeks due to a bone bruise in his right knee.  Wells has played in five games so far this year for the Cardinals and he has carried the ball 91 times for 423 yards (4.6 ypc) with 6 TD runs.  He also has caught 4 passes for 12 yards (3.0 avg) in this game.  The Cardinals hope that Alfonso Smith steps up while Wells is out of action.  Smith has played in 5 games for the Cardinals so far this year and he has carried the ball 25 times for 89 yards (3.6 ypc) with 1 TD carry.  He has also caught 3 passes for 21 yards (7.0 avg) in 2011.  The Cardinals hope that Wells’ returns soon.

The Arizona Cardinals sign safety Sean Considine

Blogged under Big Cards News,Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Wednesday 12 October 2011 at 1:26 pm

The Cardinals have signed 28-year old safety Sean Considine.  Considine played in 4 games for the Panthers earlier this year but he didn’t make any tackles.  He did recover a fumble though.  Considine has now played in 75 games in his first 7 years in the NFL and he has 242 tackles, 15 passes defensed, 4 interceptions, 2.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 5 fumble recoveries and 7 tackles for a loss.  This was a good signing for the Cardinals as Considine gives them another option at safety until Kerry Rhodes (he is out a month) returns to action.

The Arizona Cardinals release punter Ben Graham

Blogged under Big Cards News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Wednesday 12 October 2011 at 1:23 pm

The Cardinals have released 37-year old punter Ben Graham.  Graham played in 1 game for the Cardinals and he punted the ball 5 times for 212 yards (42.4 avg).  He pinned the opposition inside their 20-yard line 2 times (40%) and he didn’t have any touchbacks.  Starting punter Dave Zastudil is ready to return to action and that’s why Graham was let go.

The Arizona Cardinals lose safety Kerry Rhodes for a few weeks

Blogged under Big Cards News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Monday 10 October 2011 at 7:22 pm

29-year old starting free safety Kerry Rhodes is going to miss multiple weeks due to a broken left foot.  Rhodes has played in 5 games for the Cardinals so far this year and he has 24 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 1 sack.  25-year old Rashad Johnson will get the first shot to replace Rhodes in the starting lineup.  He has played in all five games for the Cardinals so far this year and he has 8 tackles and a fumble recovery.  He has now played in 31 games in his first three years with the Cardinals and he has 71 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 7 passes defensed and 1 interception.  The Cardinals hope that Johnson really steps up while Rhodes is on the shelf.

The Arizona Cardinals release WR Max Komar with an injury settlement

Blogged under Big Cards News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Wednesday 5 October 2011 at 8:36 pm

The Cardinals have released 24-year old WR Max Komar with an injury settlement (left knee).  Komar played in 8 games as a rookie for the Cardinals last year and he caught 12 passes for 117 yards (9.8 avg).  He also returned 5 punts for 31 yards (6.2 avg) for the Cardinals last season.  The Cardinals won’t miss Komar too much going forward, as they are set at WR for 2011.

The Arizona Cardinals are working a couple of cornerbacks pretty hard this year

Blogged under Big Cards News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Needs to pick it up by admin on Tuesday 4 October 2011 at 5:37 pm

21-year old rookie CB Patrick Peterson and 23-year old second year cornerback A.J. Jefferson are working a lot on both defense and special teams so far this year.  Peterson has played in all 4 games for the Cardinals so far this year and he has 21 tackle, 3 passes defensed and 1 interception.  Peterson has also returned 11 punts for 175 yards (15.9 avg) with 1 TD return as he has been really busy so far in this game.  A.J. Jefferson only played in 2 games as a rookie for the Cardinals last year and he had 1 tackle and 1 pass defensed.  He has played in 3 games for the Cardinals already this year and he has 20 tackles and he has defensed 7 passes.  Jefferson has also returned 7 kickoffs for 203 yards (29.0 avg) so far this year.  The Cardinals have given up 282.8 yards passing per game and opposing QBs have a 87.4 rating against them.  That’s not good, so the Cardinals hope that Peterson and Jefferson start to step up on D.
