2. (62) Cody Brown, DE

The Cardinals wanted a pass rusher to back up the veteran outside linebackers they have and Cody Brown should be able to help them with that.  Brown is on the small side as a DE at 6′2″, 242 but he’s fast enough (4.69 40) to convert to outside linebacker.  Brown played in 42 games (32 starts) in 4 years at U Conn and he made 150 tackles, had 45.5 tackles for a loss, 24 sacks, batted down 13 passes, forced 6 fumbles and he recovered 2 fumbles.  This was a good pick for the Cardinals as Brown has a decent upside for the future.

1. (31) Chris Wells, RB

The Cardinals couldn’t believe that their dreams came true when running back Chris Wells fell to them in the first round.  Wells is 6′1″, 235 pounds and he runs a 4.55 40, but, he plays faster when defensive players are chasing him.  Wells is a good pass blocker and receiver despite not getting many passes thrown to him in college.  Wells played in 36 games (22 starts) in his three year career at Ohio State and he carried the ball 585 times for 3,382 yards (5.8 ypc) with 30 TD runs.  He also caught 15 passes for 84 yards (5.6 avg) at Ohio State.  Look for Wells to be the main man in the running game for the Cardinals as long as he can stay healthy which has been a problem for him in the past.

The Arizona Cardinals sign fullback Dan Kreider

The Cardinals have signed 32-year old fullback Dan Kreider.  Kreider played in 11 games for the Rams last season and he carried the ball 1 time for 0 yards.  Kreider has now played in 124 games in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 32 times for 144 yards (4.5 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  He has also caught 60 passes for 471 yards (7.9 avg) with 2 TD grabs in his career.  Kreider should help out the running game for the Cardinals as he is still a good blocker.
