Ken Whisenhunt brought toughness to the desert in his first season as the Cardinals head coach.  Whisenhunt led the Cardinals to a 2nd place finish in the NFC East with a 8-8 record.  If the Cardinals improve as much next season as they did this year under Whisenhunt the Cardinals will be a playoff team.

The Arizona Cardinals showed off their depth at QB this season

Matt Leinart and Kurt Warner split time early in the season before Leinart was injured and missed the remainder of the season.  Kurt Warner turned back the clock and he played really well for the Cardinals this year.  Warner played in 14 games this season and he completed 281 of 451 passes (62.3%) for 3,417 yards with 27 TD passes and 17 interceptions (89.8 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 17 times for 15 yards (0.9 ypc) with a TD run.  Warner has now played in 94 games in his NFL career and he has hit 1,926 of 2,959 passes (65.1%) for 24,008 yards with 152 TD passes and 100 interceptions (93.2 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 134 times for 278 yards (2.1 ypc) with 3 TD runs.

Matt Leinart regressed this season after a solid rookie year and one has to wonder if he is truly a franchise QB to build around.  He played in 5 games before hurting his shoulder and he completed 60 of 112 passes (53.6%) for 647 yards with 2 TD passes and 4 interceptions (61.9 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 11 times for 42 yards (3.8 ypc).  Leinart has now played in 17 games in his NFL career and he has hit 274 of 489 passes (56%) for 3,194 yards with 13 TD passes and 16 interceptions (71.2 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 33 times for 91 yards (2.8 ypc) with 2 TD runs.

Tim Rattay was signed on when Matt Leinart was injured and he even started a game….which didn’t go too well.  But, with Kurt Warner’s left elbow bothering him taking snaps near the goal line Rattay often entered the game and he played well.  He played in 4 games this season and he was 15 of 27 (55.6%) for 164 yards with 3 TD passes and 3 interceptions (71.1 QB Rating).  He also carried the football 2 times for 5 yards (2.5 ypc).  Rattay has now played in 40 games in his NFL career and he has hit 432 of 714 passes (60.5%) for 4,853 yards with 31 TD passes and 23 interceptions (81.9 QB Rating).  He also has carried the football 45 times for 77 yards (1.9 ypc).
