Cardinals vs. Falcons

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by ravenhater on Thursday 28 September 2006 at 3:00 pm

This is a very interesting game because the teams are both very different.  The Cards like to air it out on offense, while the Falcons prefer to keep it on the ground.

Kurt Warner is having a rough season so far.  Warner almost got benched for this game in favor of rookie Matt Leinart because he’s been turning the ball over so much.  Warner has fumbled 8 times, losing three of them and he’s thrown 4 interceptions.  To lessen the pressure on Warner, the Cards should use Edgerrin James more in the running game.  Even so, the Cardinals will try to get an early lead throwing the ball first, and then running James to control the clock.  It should be fun watching the Cards great receivers, Anquan Boldin (20 rec, 253 yards) and Larry Fitzgerald (19 rec, 250 yards) going against CBs D’Angelo Hall and Jason Webster who have 2 interceptions each this season.

The Falcons are very predictable on offense as they average 225.0 yards rushing and 5.9 yards per carry.  Warrick Dunn (310 yards), Michael Vick (232 yards) and Jerious Norwood (111 yards) will attack the front 7 of the Cardinals’ defense and control the clock, while putting points on the board.  It’s crucial that the Falcons start hitting their FGs, as they’ve only made 3 of 10 this season.

I like the Falcons to win this game at home, but it should be a good football game.

Dennis Green reverses course

ESPN NEWS is reporting that Dennis Green has changed his mind and will start Kurt Warner against the Falcons…..but Green’s leash will be short as Warner is on the hot seat because of turnovers.

Dennis Green benches Kurt Warner

Green is sick of Warner turning the ball over.  Matt Leinart will start Sunday against the Falcons on Sunday.  Look for the Cardinals to run Edgerrin James more to take some of the pressure off Leinart.

Warner hands old team 16-14 victory

The Cards had alot of chances to win this football game, but Kurt Warner couldn’t get it done.  Warner completed 19 of 28 passes for 256 yards with 1 TD and 3 INT.  RB Edgerrin James carried the ball 24 times for 94 yards and a TD.  Anquan Boldin caught 10 passes for 129 yards, Larry Fitzgerald caught 6 passes for 65 yards and a TD.  WR Bryant Johnson caught 1 pass and it was for 54 yards.

Back-up LB Gerald Hayes had 10 tackles.  The Cards played good run defense holding the Rams to 63 yards rushing and 2.3 yards per carry.  The Rams shredded the Cards secondary, completing 67.7% of their passes for 301 net yards thru the air.

Cards Loss 9/24

If this game had been played in the 60′s, the league would investigate Warner for throwing the game… remember Paul Horning? It’s hard to believe that a Super Bowl winner can make such blatant “errors”….. Incredible!

Cardinals vs. Rams

This is a huge game in the NFC West, and is a must-win game for both teams.

Coach Linehan has made the Rams a more balanced football team on offense but they’ve only scored 31 points in their first two games.  They will have to score at least that many to win this game.  The Rams need to protect QB Marc Bulger better, as they’ve allowed 9 sacks this season.  RB Steven Jackson should be able to find running room against the Cards defense that is allowing 126.5 yards per game and 4.7 yards per carry.  Look for the Rams to throw alot more in this game to try to keep up with the Cardinals offense.  WR Torry Holt (12 rec, 110 yards) should have a huge game this week.

The Cards would like to get Edgerrin James and the running game going this week. The Rams’ defense is allowing 144 yards per game on the ground and 5 yards per carry.  QB Kurt Warner is off to a good start this season and will attack the much-improved Rams defense down the field.  WRs Larry Fitzgerald (13 rec, 185 yards) and Anquan Boldin (10 rec, 124 yards) should have good games.

I like the Cards to win this one on their home field.

James Darling will miss two weeks after pulling his hamstring against the Seahawks.  Gerald Hayes will start in his place.

Cards not ready for prime-time losing 21-10

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by ravenhater on Monday 18 September 2006 at 5:26 pm

The Cards were just out-classed by the Seattle Seahawks Sunday. Kurt Warner completed 24 of 38 passes (63.2%) for 231 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT. RB Edgerrin James ran the ball 18 times for 64 yards (3.6 ypc) and caught 7 passes for 33 yards (4.7 avg). WR Anquan Boldin caught 6 passes for 62 yards (10.3 avg). Larry Fitzgerald caught 4 passes for 52 yards (13.0 avg). Bryant Johnson caught 1 pass, but it was a 40 yard TD pass.

The pass defense played well for the Cardinals as the Seahawks only completed 44.4% of their passes for 195 net yards in the air, and the Cards picked-off 2 passes. The Seahawks unloaded on the Cards defense in the running game. The Seahawks ran the ball 36 times for 146 yards (4.1 ypc). DT Darnell Dockett was real busy, collecting 11 tackles and a sack. S Adrian Wilson had 5 tackles, 2 sacks and a pick-off.

Cardinals vs. Seahawks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,This Week's Matchup Report by ravenhater on Friday 15 September 2006 at 12:00 am

This should be a very interesting football game.  The Cardinals and Seahawks both won their first games, the Cards with their offense and the Seahawks with their defense.  The Cards rolled up 367 total yards, but they gave up 393 yards to the 49ers.  The Cards will probably try to run the ball with Edgerrin James alot more this week to keep the Cards defense off the field.  If Alex Smith and Frank Gore can roll up numbers on them, what will Matt Hasselbeck and Shaun Alexander do to them?  The Seahawks aggessive defense only allowed 251 yards last week to the Lions.  The Cards will need to give Kurt Warner time, of the Cards could be in trouble this week.

The Seahawks will score alot of points this week, mark my words.  The Seahawks didn’t even score a TD and they still won against the Lions.  Shaun Alexander should have a great game against a defense that was having big trouble with Frank Gore.  QB Matt Hasselbeck has a deep receiving corps, and they should be able to spread the field and move the ball at will on the Cards defense.

The Cardinals are getting better quickly, but the Seahawks are still a better team and they’re at home……so I have to go with the Seahawks in this one.
